ELECTRIC PRESS KIT (Post punk-Paris) vous propose de télécharger librement le Re-Released 96-06 ALBUM.

Ce nouveau disque désormais disponible chez Earsheltering et Vault 106 est la netrelease "compagnon" du deuxième album intitulé "Torsions" à paraitre prochainement sur le label Blu-crush rec. (sortie physique CD)...

Chronique de l'album d'Electric press kit "RE RELEASED 96-06" dans Et l'Hiver dansait autour d'un Feu:

C'est à un retour vers un solide matériau de base que nous convie EPK : "Re-released 96-06" a tout de la mécanique électrifiée qui n'a pas pris un gramme de rouille et balance un feeling s'appliquant à brouiller les époques. Si dès les premiers riffs et la manière d'aborder le chant, on regarde sans difficulté vers les années 80, Emmanuel D. et Jef J. ne s'attardent pas en nostalgie et dessinent avec énergie «l'esthétique EPK» sur le corps plus froid d'une trame de fond aux couleurs «industrielles». La touche organique est bien présente, ne nous y trompons pas, cependant l'enveloppe sonore renvoie ce goût de matrice énervée d'où se détachent des émanations synthétiques (les tensions latentes de "Young" par exemple). Le couple guitare-basse d'un côté, et un jeu terriblement efficace, c'est clair tout de suite avec "Psycho Killer", cold/post-punk musclé qui cause aux nerfs droit dans les yeux, et cette "peau" qui sert de miroir aux eighties' en leur ravalant une jeunesse sur les orgues de ces machines réglées sur l'épine dorsale d'une sensibilité «rock». Une révision des troupes hautement recommandées (disponible en libre téléchargement) en attendant "Torsions", le successeur d'"Analogic".

Il est des groupes, comme ça, qui vous font prendre un coup de vieux… ou qui vous rajeunissent positivement, tout dépend de comment on voit la chose. C’est le cas avec ce projet français, Electric Press Kit, qui propose un style très typique d’une époque : post-punk/coldwave… apprêtez-vous donc à être propulsés plus de 30 ans en arrière ! La formation de région Parisienne joue donc un son fleurant la nostalgie d’une époque que j’aime, mais en même temps un son moderne, intemporel et créatif. Que l’on soit en 1980 ou 2011, peu importe… la formule de ce rock abrasif et nourri d’ambiances étranges prend plutôt bien, je trouve. Et pour une autoprod, le constat qui s’impose dès les premières écoutes est une bonne qualité d’enregistrement. Le duo, composé d’Emmanuel (guitare, chant, programmation) et de Jean-François (basse) a commencé le projet en 1996, et « Re-Released 96-06 » est composé de titres ré-enregistrés, en attendant la sortie de leur deuxième album, « Torsions ». Pour l’heure, voyons ces titres de plus près…

J’aime définitivement la coldwave, et le duo aussi, ça s’entend. Tout en rendant discrètement hommage à ce style ayant un peu pris la poussière les années passant, il faut bien l’avouer, ils proposent quelque chose de créatif et assez novateur. Je suis imprégnée de Cure, Siouxsie, Joy Division… principalement des groupes anglo-saxon donc, mais en France nous n’étions pas en reste avec Kas Product, Guerre Froide ou bien Cabaret Voltaire. Dans la musique d’Electric Press Kit, on sent un peu la présence, la légère influence de toutes ces talentueuses références, selon les morceaux. Dès le premier titre, on a un côté très coldwave avec les synthés, ainsi qu’une intonation typique dans le chant. Mais aussi noise/indus avec des riffs de guitares très abrasifs. Une sensation de froideur, d’étrangeté se dégage de cette première chanson et c’est avec confiance que je continue sur les autres. J’ai particulièrement aimé l’intro de « Hope » avec un parfum un peu « curiste », ce qui n’est pas pour me déplaire… Quant au titre « Bullet in my head », le rythme de la batterie et de la guitare, plus « sautillant », fait beaucoup plus référence au punk lui-même qu’au post-punk. En revanche, « Young blood on the wall » sera très nettement coldwave. Toujours avec cette tension, cette froideur latente… En plus de jouer sur les guitares grinçantes, ils usent de bruitages electro, de distorsions qui accentuent cette ambiance de malaise et de mystère. Effet réussi.

Il est des groupes hexagonaux qui me font aimer la scène dark française ; Electric Press Kit en fait partie. J’attends à présent avec curiosité leur album qui sortira prochainement sur le nouveau label français Blu_crush Records. En attendant, ces morceaux ré-enregistrés nous immergent dans leur univers sombre et particulier, naviguant entre coldwave, indus et post-rock. Post-punk is not dead…. I hope so.

"There is a new album from this subtly spiky French duo coming next month, entitled ‘Torsions’, but for now here’s some oldies made available for free which any Post-Punk devotee will enjoy. Emmanuel D (vocals, guitar and programming) and bassist Jef J originally whacked these tracks out their eponymous debut EP (1999), the Show Me EP (2002) and Analogic album (2006), just so you know.

Qu'est-ce Que C'est? ‘Psycho Killer’, and a juddery little strop it is too, with needling guitar leaping the bumpy rhythm and flirting with the vocal twists. ‘Hope’ is poppier in a gloomy way, everything kept spry and concise, with the punky bass sending ‘Bullet In My Head’ rocketing along, in a rickety fashion and the strange vocal rustles keeping it interestingly weird. ‘Not Very Funny’ has an enchanting sense of disenchantment, like a modern versions of the Velvets, intentionally downplaying the gentler qualities.

‘Show Me’ is a wild mess, with vituperative vocals, heroically moody guitar and a steely bucking rhythm, ‘Young’ has a drowsy simplicity as it slowly dwindles, but ‘Blood On The Wall’ is fuller and darker, with a wily guitar trail through a steadfast, stylish synth maze. To send things out in a compellingly enigmatic manner ‘Le Soleil Se Leve Nulle Part’ threatens to move off in a lumpen dance explosion, but retreats immediately into insular but imaginative dour lo-fi, ticking over in miserable splendour.

A fascinating band whose sound straddles the very earliest Cold Wave era, and the modern Post-Punk resolution."
